Baptists Crossing the Tiber
by Steve Wood and guest Steve Ray
The Tiber is a river in Italy that passes by Rome. Crossing the Tiber is a phrase used to describe a Protestant’s conversion to Roman Catholicism.
Matthew, a son of a Baptist minister, contacted Faith & Family Radio asking to learn more about Catholicism. In response, we asked Steve Ray to share the story of his fascinating journey to Catholicism in terms a Baptist could easily understand.
Steve Ray shares how he unconsciously looked at his Bible through “Baptist lenses” that colored his interpretation of the Bible.
Steve Ray explains how Catholic sacred tradition comes from the apostles themselves. He also relates how a unified tradition leads to a unified church instead of the 30,000 divisions within Protestantism.
This recording is a perfect resource to share with a Baptist friend while Catholics listening to it will learn more about their own faith.
